Dandeli
is one of 57 Karnataka cities in the
Nirmala Nagara - Municipal eGovernance
project. On Aug 15th 2005 each
of the 57 cities will get a comprehensive
website as well as the Public
Grievance & Redressal module. Other important modules to be
launched by June 2006 are Property
Tax, Financial Accounting GIS Mapping, Birth & Death
Certification, and Ward Works. Nirmala
Nagara project is a partnership between the Urban Development Dept,
eGovernments
Foundation &
Survey of India. These computer based systems coupled with Govt.
process re-engineering and GIS digital mapping will provide
transparency and accountability and smoother delivery of services to
citizens of Karnataka. Your feedback and inputs are greatly

Dandeli
City is
located at the bank of River Kali in UttaraKannda District,
which is 117
KM FROM KARWAR,75 KM FROM HUBLI ,57 KM FROM DHARWAD, 481 KM
FROM BANGALORE. It is very famous for Wild sanctuary, Paper Mills,
Syntheri
Rock and Forest Resorts. Kali river is the main water source.
People of this city are coming from different states of the India .They
are very good example for "unity in diversity" with theire
different culture, religion and language. So Dandeli city is
Recognized as "MINI INDIA". |

The
West Coast Paper Mills Ltd is the main industry, almost all
the people in the city depend upon this industry.
The Company was
promoted by Shree Digvijay Cement Company
Limited, Sikka,Gujrat State in 1955 and located at Dandeli in
Karnataka.The prospects of continued supply of forest-based raw
materials on the assurance of the then State Government of Karnataka,
perennial availability of water, assured power supply, vicinity of rail
and road linkages were the major factors that weighed in favour of
Dandeli.Originally the plant was designed to manufacture 18,000 MT per
year of writing, printing and packaging paper. The trial production
started in November 1958 and commercial production from May 1959. The
company was granted license in December 1964 for 45,000 MT/P.A.
capacity and the balancing equipments programme was completed in 1972
to increase the production to 45,000 MT/P.A. The company also
implemented the Crash programme in 1974 to increase production capacity
to 60,000 MT / P.A. against the license issued in July 1972 for 60,000
MT. The license capacity was re-endorsed for 69,000 MT/P.A. in November
1991 on the basis of actual production.
Dandelappa
temple is one of a oldest famous temple in Dandeli
City. The City is situated in the
Maland belt and such abounds in thick greeneries adding to the
beautiful landscape with hills, valleys and river. Kali river flows on
the south of Dandeli town.

Budget: The
annual budget of the CMC for the year 2004-05 is Rs. 488.42
lakhs . Out of which 363.55 lakhs is proposed for capital
expenses& revenue, Rs.41.45 lakhs towards Repairs and
Maintenance, Rs. 46.50 lakhs towards New works and Rs. 9.98 lakhs
towards the welfare of SC/ST .
